STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) - The supply truck arrived in Statesboro from the Old Savannah City Mission. Volunteers who help with the first annual great day of Thanksgiving unloaded frozen turkeys that will be cooked on Saturday. It is the first year the mission has teamed with Statesboro churches and volunteers to feed those less fortunate.

"We'll have smokers here cooking the meat," said volunteer David Gerrald. "We'll have people pulling the meat. Everything will be fresh, cooked the day of. It's just gonna be a glorious time."

Meals will be served on Saturday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. between Statesboro Church of God and Eastern Heights Baptist Church following the Great Day of Thanksgiving Feast in Forsyth Park from 11:00 a.m. until 2 p.m.
