SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Paula Deen was on the set of Extreme Makeover Home Edition on Wednesday.

She was filming a segment in the Simpson's kitchen.

"They had my sawing and I was cutting wood. I can't say much, but I can tell you their kitchen is incredible," Deen said.

Deen says the Simpson family basically didn't have a kitchen before. She says they were only using a microwave and had to wash their dishes in the bathtub.

Their new home will make it easier for their 2-year-old.

"They have a therapy room. It's like a big boat to climb on. This child is going to have what he needs to get his physical strength," Deen said.

Deen helped host Wednesday night's Extreme Extravaganza.

The event raised money to help the Simpson's pay their expenses and mortgage.

"It's blowing me away. Their emphasis is making a difference in the community and it's going to make their heart warm," Zac Kea said.

As of Wednesday night, construction crews at the site said they are basically finished and just working on minor details in preparation for Thursday's big reveal.
