BOE Votes to Raise Millage Rate

It looks like you may pay more the next time the tax man calls. Yesterday afternoon, the Savannah- Chatham County Board of Education voted to raise the millage rate. They lost state funding and operating expenses are going up.

"What that means for the average homeowner, say a $100,000 homeowner, will see an increase in their property tax bill of about $7.46 from what it was last year."

It's not quite a done deal. Chatham County commissioners still have to approve the hike at the end of the month. We'll keep you posted.
