Bureau's food collection to be delivered

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - On Tuesday morning, city workers will load trucks of canned goods collected by employees of Savannah's Bureau of Leisure Services.

Employees spent weeks collecting food as part of the bureau's annual Charity Food Drive, which takes place during the holiday season. They collected enough to provide 500 meals, and it will be delivered to the Hope House and to St. Paul C.M.E. Church in Savannah.

Leisure Services includes more than 300 employees in the departments of Park and Tree, Recreation Services, Cultural Affairs, Buildings and Grounds, Cemeteries and the Civic Center.

Over the next few weeks, city employees will donate hundreds of presents for patients at Georgia Regional Hospital as part of the annual Mayor's Motorcade, set for 10 a.m. Dec. 8.

Mayor Otis Johnson will be joined by dozens of City employees and vehicles, as well as other mayors from across the region, to deliver presents to the hospital.
