An inquest is underway into the death of Charles Fraser, the man known as the father of Hilton Head Island. Fraser drowned in December of 2002 after a bilge pump exploded on a charter boat. An autopsy says Fraser was burned by the explosion, but died of drowning.
The inquest will determine if there was any criminal intent, since none of the other five people on the boat were seriously injured. The inquest is expected wrap up on Monday. We'll keep you posted on the outcome.
