SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Soldiers with the Third Combat Aviation Brigade will return home just in time for a thankgiving meal prepared by Army Ranger DFAC. Approximately 240 soldiers will arrive at 11:30 a.m. at Hunter Army Airfield from a year-long deployment in Afghanistan.
The Ranger DFAC will be serving Thanksgiving meals for soldiers and their guest for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They will be competing with other DFAC dining facilities on Fort Stewart for the best Thanksgiving venue.
In October 2009, approximately 3,000 soldiers with the 3rd CAB deployed to Afghanistan to support Operation Enduring Freedom. Wednesday's flight will bring the total number of redeployed soldiers with the 3rd CAB close to 2,000.
