SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A community campaign wrapped up Tuesday that aims to provide free phone cards to local soldiers stationed overseas during the holiday season.

The Coastal Bank raised more than $1,000 for the USO's Operation Phone Home campaign, which provides pre-paid phone cards to deployed military personnel to call loved ones while away from their families this holiday season.

Anyone who made a donation at the bank's Johnson Square office Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. received a free Chick-Fil-A sandwich, and anyone who donated $50 or more was entered for a chance to win free Chick-Fil-A for a year.

"The goal of the campaign was to raise money to purchase these $5 dollar phone cards to give to as many locally deployed soldiers that we could that are from the Savannah area, so that they could call home for the holiday's to friends, family and loved ones," said the Coastal Bank's Director of Marketing Adam Montgomery.

The cards will be given to deployed members of the various branches of military including the U.S. Army, U.S. Coast Guard, and U.S. Marine Corps in December.
