Richmond Hill shooting locks down two schools

RICHMOND HILL, GA (WTOC) - The suspect Richmond Hill Police were looking for in a shooting at the Plantation Apartments on Casey Drive has turned himself in. Family and neighbors tell WTOC the suspect is a 15-year-old Richmond Hill High School student.

Plantation Apartments are across the street from Richmond Hill Middle School and as a precaution Richmond Hill police put the middle school as well as Richmond Hill High School on lockdown.

Family members tell WTOC the victim was 20-year-old Andrew Mitchell Koenigsfeld. He was shot in the face after a fight between him and a 15-year-old. Koenigsfeld was rushed to the hospital. His family says he is in good spirits.

Harris Trail Road was closed down, but has since re-opened. All after school activities were cancelled, but police tell WTOC there was no search for the suspect at either school, and the lockdowns were strictly to keep students safe and the schools secure.

The 15-year-old suspect is being charged with aggravated assault.
