Agriculture aircraft flying into Savannah for convention

HUTCHINSON ISLAND, GA (WTOC) - The Savannah Chatham Metro Police Department is notifying the public they could see an unsual number of planes flying over downtown Savannah this weekend and for the week of December 6 through December 9.

Hundreds of aviation executives and business owners will be meeting at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center.

The planes are with the National Agriculture Aviation Association and will be landing on the area that is normally a race track behind the Savannah Harbor Westin Hotel. Some planes have already arrived and others will be arriving later next week.

The agricultural aircraft will display techniques and and manuevers for the trade show attendees.

The public is also invited to attend all the riverfront demontration. Below is a list of events for December 5 through December 10:

  • Sunday, December 5 - 8:30 a.m. - Noon:  Planes will be landing on the Hutchinson Island Race Track in preparation for the convention.
  • Monday, December 6 - Noon- 1 p.m.: Fire Boss Demonstration along the Savannah River (depending on weather).
  • Friday, December 10 - 10 a.m. – Noon: Fire Boss will execute a water take-off and landing.
