Governor presents Jepsens with Opportunity Award

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A couple who has created opportunities for others in Savannah has received the Opportunity Award.

Gov. Sonny Purdue presented the award to Bob and Alice Jepson on Friday night at Savannah Technical College in recognition of their philanthropic work which has focused on education and the arts. The Jepsons are active supporters of Bethesda, the Savannah Educational Alliance, SCAD, the United Way and many other charitable organizations.

"Lastly and most importantly, I'd like to thank my wife of 50 years for her support and applause when I was right and for her strength and wisdom when i got a little off the path. I love her dearly, and she has been an inspiration from the moment I saw her and she is an inspiration now thank you darling," said Bob Jepson, an Opportunity Award Winner.

    Subtropical Storm Alberto continues to bring heavy rain and a high risk for rip currents to the Gulf Coast.  Alberto is just west of Tampa and moving to north by northwest at 12mph.  Peak winds are 50 mph and no significant strengthening is expected as we head into Monday.
