SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) – A U.S. Coast Guard aircraft had just departed the Hunter Army Airfield on a training mission when it was contacted by Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport control tower, according to the Coast Guard.
The tower told the Coast Guard aircraft it had lost radar contact and radio communications with a Cessna 182 just 8 nautical miles north of the airport. The Coast Guard helicopter flew to the location and found the Cessna partially in the water. The Coast Guard helicopter landed on the marsh and rescued the three people on board.
