Heritage advertising campaign honored by PGA Tour

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) - The Heritage Golf Tournament was honored by the PGA Tour for its advertising campaign and theme "Get Your Plaid On" during the Tournament Advisory Council meetings this week.

The Heritage received the honor "Best Advertising Campaign" for the implementation and success of their new theme for the 2010 tournament. The 2010 campaign triumphantly flaunted its vibrant social atmosphere and emphasized the involvement of the community and surrounding areas.

"On behalf of the PGA TOUR, I am pleased to acknowledge and congratulate the outstanding job and special recognition The Heritage has received for its efforts," said PGA Tour EVP and Chief of Operations Andy Pazder in a news release. "The tournament committee should be extremely proud for being acknowledged as the best among its peers on Tour."

The campaign also featured Sir William Innes, a golfer who has been the center of the tournament's logo since the was started. "Willie" made appearances around the state and at community events to help promote the campaign. He also utlizedsocial media tools Facebook and Twitter to help the advertising campaign.

"We are thrilled to receive the award for Best Advertising Campaign by the PGA Tour," said The Heritage Tournament Director Steve Wilmot in a news release. "There was a lot of though and effort that went into the campaign, and it was a great boost to the overall awareness of the event in the community and the state. We will continue the theme of "Get your plaid on" in 2011."

The 2011 Heritage Golf Tournament will be held on April 21 through April 24 at the Habour Town Gold Links. The 2010 Heritage Tournament champion was FedExCup champion Jim Furyk.
