Editorial Salute - 12/09/10

Home will now be just a little bit closer this Christmas for many currently deployed military members.  While having these great Savannah-area men and women back here with families would be the very best gift of all, for many on-duty elsewhere this season, The Coastal Bank, its customers and friends wanted to help.  With a community campaign that wrapped up last week, working with Savannah's USO, Coastal Bank branches encouraged folks to stop by and donate funds to purchase 5-dollar phone cards for our deployed troops.  As a result, over one-thousand-dollars was contributed  in support of the USO's Operation Phone Home program, meaning that over 200 service members, throughout our five military branches, will be able to speak with family members over the holidays at no change.

Our thanks to The Coastal Bank Family, their customers, community friends and Savannah's great USO volunteers, for working together to brighten the hearts and holidays for those from our area, who are in service elsewhere.   This was a terrific outreach effort, sure to be so very much appreciated by those who must be away from their families, as they continue to do all in their power to keep us secure and free.
