US Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) says he's concerned about Third Infantry Division soldiers still in Iraq. In light of the recent orders to extend the deployment of our troops, Chambliss has written a letter to the acting secretary of the Army. In it, he says the new orders have caused anxiety for the soldiers and their families. So he's asking for help in bringing the Third ID home.
"I am proud of the Third ID, who has fought so bravely," he said. "But there has been three occasions where the Army has promised to send our folks home and each time it's been extended. I'm very concerned about that and I have expressed that concern to Les Brownlee of the United States Army."
The remaining Third ID soldiers will be in Iraq until at least October.
