SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah Fire and Emergency Services will break ground Monday on the department's second new fire station.
Fire Chief Charles G. Middleton, Savannah Mayor Otis Johnson, Acting City Manager Rochelle Small-Toney, 1st District Alderman Van R. Johnson II, 2nd District Alderwoman Mary Osborne and other leaders will participate in the ceremony for the new Bull Street station that will be located on Bull Street between 32nd and 33rd streets.
The 16,000-square-foot building will replace the SFES Station 5 located at 6 W Henry St. It will be home to SFES Truck Company 5 and Engine Company 5 and will include two apparatus bays, office and conference space, a large multi-purpose room, dormitory, kitchen, restrooms and showers and related areas, according to the SFES.
Construction of the new station is expected to be finished in the last quarter of 2011.
