District judge: Parts of healthcare law ruled unconstitutional

RICHMOND, VA (RNN) - Parts of the Obama administration's healthcare law have been ruled unconstitutional, the Associated Press has reported.

U.S. District Court Judge Henry E. Hudson ruled Monday that the law's requirement that citizens purchase health insurance or pay a penalty is unconstitutional. That portion of the legislation was set to take effect in 2014.

This ruling could be the first of more to come. Twenty-five similar lawsuits are pending across the country.

Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli filed the lawsuit challenging the law's requirement, the AP reported.
