City breaks ground on new fire station

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Work is officially underway on a brand new fire station in Savannah. City representatives joined Savannah Fire Chief Charles Middleton to breakground on the second new fire station of the year on Bull Street off of 32nd Street. It will replace Station 5 on Henry Street.

I'm just excited to get it on. It's a huge step forward in our ability to serve. It's a huge step forward in our ability to mesh in and integrate into our community," said Chief Middleton.

"I'm just really excited about it," he added.

Construction on the 16,000 square foot facility should be complete by the end of next year.
