City cuts ribbon on renovated dock

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Savannah City Council, Department of Natural Resources and River Street business owners celebrated the opening of the newly renovated Rousakis Plaza Recreational Dock with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday at 2 p.m.

The Rousakis Recreational Dock is located east of City Hall at the Abercorn Ramp on River Street's Riverwalk across from Rousakis Performance Shell.

The renovations were funded by a Department of Natural Resources grant. The money replaced the existing gangway with an ADA gangway/ramp and three water and electricity towers.

"It's another way that River Street can thrive, a fair number of boaters come here daily, dock, and then spend their day on River Street and then downtown Savannah and that's something we'd like to encourage," said Director of Mobility and Parking Sean Brandon.

The City of Savannah made additional improvements to the railings, piling guides and rollers and installed new signage.
