MILLEN, GA (WTOC) - Georgia's governor and Department of Corrections commissioner will be among the officials at Wednesday morning's groundbreaking of the new CCA Jenkins Correctional Center.
The groundbreaking takes place at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the construction site. The new facility is expected to be completed by March 2012.
Gov. Sonny Purdue, Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Brian Owens, Mayor King Rocker; Mabel Jenkins, chairman, Economic Development Council; and Jerry Henry, county commissioner will speak at the event.
CCA president and CEO Damon Hininger; CCA executive vice president and chief development officer Tony Grande; and Ralph Kemp, warden at CCA's Wheeler Correctional Facility in Alamo, Ga., will also be guest speakers.
The event also includes a holiday toy drive for local children. New, unwrapped toys will be collected at the ceremony and presented to the Jenkins County Family Enrichment Center in Millen.
