GARDEN CITY, GA (WTOC) – Christmas is coming early for some needy students.
The principal at Garden City Elementary put on his Santa Claus hat and headed over to Wal-Mart in Pooler.
Thanks to an anonymous $2,000 donation and an extra $200 from Wal-Mart, the school and Woodlawn Baptist Church spent the day buying gifts for students who otherwise might not get anything for the holidays.
"The principal and our community social worker realized there was some need there. They made some home visits and made us aware of that," said Woodland Baptist Church Pastor Gary Johnson. "So together, the three of us are joining forces to try and help in that need. So we're excited."
They got it all: baby dolls, Transformers, bikes and everything in between. The gifts will be donated later this week.
