The first Miss Georgia to represent Savannah in over 20 years was in town today, visiting the American Red Cross. Andrea Bailey is preparing for the Miss America competition by meeting with local Red Cross reps. She's learning about new programs and discussing ways to raise money for the organization. She selected the Red Cross as her platform because she was a volunteer there for the past eight years.
"Over the course of a year, I hope to be a voice of the Red Cross and promote that to help recruit more volunteers and make people aware of what the Red Cross is doing in the community, so that the Red Cross can continue to grow to meet the needs of the community every day," she said.
Andrea will compete for the Miss America title in Atlantic City on September 20.
