LONG COUNTY, GA (WTOC) – A Long County home -- along with Christmas presents inside it -- was destroyed by fire early Sunday morning.
The fire began shortly after 12:30 a.m. of an unknown cause, according to Long County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Assistant Fire Chief Richard Trunan. A state fire marshal will investigate the site Tuesday.
Trunas said the roof of the Archer Road home had collapsed by the time firefighters arrived. The blaze took approximately two hours to control.
The home's occupant, Charles DeLoach, was vacationing in Orlando at the time of the fire.Christmas presents purchased for his wife and daughter were lost in the flames.
