SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Savannah Chapter of the American Red Cross has helped 150 people so far this month who've been victims of fires.
On Tuesday morning, the Over the Sugar Hill Club, which is made up of retired Dixie Crystal employees and sponsored by Imperial Sugar, donated a check for $2,000 to the Savannah Chapter of the American Red Cross. The group said the Red Cross did so much the night of the Imperial Sugar explosion, so they wanted to give back.
"They were there right after the explosion. They were at the hospital and such a tremendous help to us," said Joe Tillman of Savannah.
The group also donated to other organizations that helped on the night of the explosion. They hope to continue donating to these organizations each year.
