Doctors are supposed to help save lives, not end them, but prosecutors in Wayne County have charged one doctor with murder. They say Dr. Spurgeon Greene of Houston County prescribed narcotics last April to 41-year-old David Barbari. Barbari took the drugs and died.
Wayne County Sheriff David Herrin says the prescriptions were not for legitimate medical reasons. He's been under investigation for several months. Authorities are not ruling out the possibility of other overdoses being traced back to the doctor. Greene is currently in the Wayne County jail without bond.
