SCAD gets 10-year SACS accreditation reaffirmed

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Savannah College of Art and Design achieved a 10-year reaffirmation of its accreditation with no recommendations for improvement from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges is the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states.

Over the last year, SCAD went through the reaffirmation of accreditation process by SACSCOC. The commission officially announced the reaffirmation of SCAD's accreditation with no follow-ups at its 115th annual meeting that was held from Dec. 4 to Dec. 7.

SCAD first received accreditation from SACSCOC in 1983 and held accreditation continuously after that time, according to the college. In 2005, the Atlanta College of Art was integrated into SCAD, and it has been accredited by SASCOC continuously since.
