Snow dusts the Coastal Empire, Lowcountry

Snow on Lady's Island Snow on Lady's Island

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) – Residents across the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry are enjoying the flutter of snow flurries in the air.

For the second time this year, snow came down across the region. Snowflakes fell and blew around, but pretty much melted by the time they hit the ground.

Snow started at about 9 a.m. Sunday in Statesboro and continued off and on through out the afternoon.

Across the border in Beaufort and Bluffton, S.C., residents saw a few flurries fall from the sky.

There has been no accumulation so far, but farther north toward Charleston and Greenville, people there saw more than an inch of snow on the ground.

Share your snow photos by uploading them here or emailing them to pics@wtoc.com.

Chatham County leaders have decided against using the city of Savannah for police services in the unincorporated part of the county after February 1st.

Instead, they're asking the sheriff for help in a last-ditch effort to patrol that area. The sheriff says this is the first time they've asked for his help in the whole demerger process.
