PORT WENTWORTH, GA (WTOC) - Port Wentworth Mayor Pro-Tem Vincent Hogan faces an indictment charge from late December that claims he lied on a candidacy notice about never being convicted of a crime.

Hogan was sentenced in 1999 for exchanging counterfeit cash.

Under state law, people convicted of a crime cannot run for office until a decade after completing their criminal sentences.

Hogan said he believed he would have been fine because it had been 10 years since he pleaded guilty.
