SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) – Thanksgiving and Christmas may be over but the giving season is not.

The Women's Resource Foundation in Savannah cooked up some hoppin' John chicken and greens to help feed the homeless on Thursday. From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Linda Johnson and others will be serving a warm meal to help the needy get a good start to the new year.

"Everybody gives at Thanksgiving and Christmas, but we want to remember them for the first of the year. So I always start my new year off by helping them start their new year off," Johnson said.

The Women's Resource Foundation helps needy at-risk families year round.

The Women's Resource Foundation offers nutrition programs, community support services, clothing, meals, childcare services and counseling.
