BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) - It's a sad day for family and friends of Carlos Olivera as they watched a hearse drive up. While eight men carried Olivera to his final resting place, many thought about the type of person Carlos was.

"Carlos was better than me. Carlos was a person that people loved. And I got to tell you this, he never cheated no one. He was a positive man and he loved this country," said Nelson Olivera, Carlos' brother.

"He was the best uncle ever. He's always giving. He's always thinking about others more than himself. All I have to say is he's the best man in the world," Carlos' nephew Michael Solis said.

"We lost a good man. We lost a friend and a good father," said Giovanni Olivera, another of Carlos's brothers.

The 34-year-old husband and father of four was killed Christmas Eve after getting into a confrontation with Pro Tow Trucking driver Preston Oates, according to police. The two were arguing over where Olivera's vehicle was parked. Police said it was an argument that lead to both men showing guns.

Police said Olivera never fired a round, but Oates that shoting Olivera several times and killing him.

A few days later, police arrested Oates and charged him with voluntary manslaughter. Many find the charge confusing.

"Manslaughter? On a man that's been shot four times, lays on the ground, and this person goes over and gives him another bullet right in the head? Unbelievable," said Tony Martinez, a friend of Olivera.

Friends and relatives say they'll now turn their attention to making sure justice will be served.
