Counterfeit exercise equipment seized at port

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection has seized 1,783 pieces of exercise equipment imported from China at the Port of Savannah for violation of trademark laws. The equipment was appraised at the manufacuter's suggested retail price of $146,626.

CBP officials inspected the shipping container and found it marked with counterfeit logos of registered brand names of AB fitness, Body by Jake, Shake Weight and Total Core.

"CBP plays a vital role in the protection of the American consumer and businesses in the United States. Violations such as these are very serious in nature. This seizure illustrates the hard work CBP performs daily in combating the illegitimate trade in counterfeit goods," said CBP Area Port Director John Porter in a news release.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection works with other U.S government agencies and foreign governments to protect consumers and the economy.
