STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) - Alexis Brown held her tiny daughter, Aleigh, as doctors and nurses huddled around her hospital bed for photos. Aleigh was East Georgia Regional Medical Center's first delivery of 2011 when she was born in the wee hours of New Year's Day.
Brown said that distinction was the last thing on her mind when she came to the hospital Friday night.
"She was due to be born on Jan. 17, so she was more than 2 weeks early," the mother said.
Aleigh was born just after 1am on New Year's Day, so her birth certificiate will read 1:00, 1-1-11. The baby weighed in at 5 pounds, 5 ounces and left EGRMC on Monday.
