Man to attempt world record

PORT ROYAL, SC (WTOC) - The Guinness Book of World Records is coming to the Wardle Family YMCA in Port Royal.

They're going to document 51-year-old Richard Armstrong as he tries breaking yet another world record by lifting 180,000 in less than one hour totaling approximately 3,000 pounds per minute, according to the YMCA.

It's going to take place at noon Sunday at the YMCA in Port Royal.

Armstrong is a YMCA member and holds several fitness- and weight lifting-related world records.

His past feats include pushing a car for hours, doing thousands of consecutive walking lunges, eating multiple pounds of French fries and steak and flying a kite for several days straight in the hopes of breaking world records, according to the YMCA.

The YMCA is encouraging spectators to cheer on Armstrong on as he attempts to achieve his next world record and even get his autograph.
