Seven members of the 165th Airlift Wing of the Georgia Air National Guard are back from serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. The Guardsmen arrived around 11am yesterday at the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport. Friends and family were there to meet them with hugs and kisses.
The 165th was activated in April and served in Qatar.
"These were basically on-services flight people, these are the people that do mortuary affairs, cooks, building assignments, etc.," explained Maj. David Simons.
There's no set date on when the rest of the 165th Airlift Wing will return. Maj. Simons said he hopes they'll return in the next few weeks.
