Low Country Blood Bank Needs Donations

Officials with the Low Country Community Blood Center say donations are down. The center needs 360 donors each month to maintain the blood supply to Beaufort Memorial Hospital, but this month, they've only gotten donations from about 100 people.

It's apparently a trend that's happening throughout the country.

"Blood supply is short in most areas of the country and any time you count on blood products from outside your local community to sustain you here at home, you're always in danger of running blood shortages," said executive director George Covington.

Here are locations for blood drives to help the center:

Thurdsay, July 30
MCAS Credit Union, 12:30pm-3pm
Savannah Hwy, Beaufort

St. John's Lutheran Church, 4pm-7pm
Lady's Island Drive

Sunday, August 3

Friday, August 1
