RINCON, GA (WTOC) - This weekend, Congressman John Barrow will be hosting several "Congress on the Corner" events, meeting and greeting constituents.

Barrow has hosted events like this in the past, but after the mass shooting at a similar event  this past weekend in Tuscon, Arizona, where six people were shot and killed, the question of security is on people's minds.

Effingham County Sheriff's deputies will be on duty at Barrow's street side forum, but sheriff's office spokesman David Ehsanipoor tells WTOC security for the event has always been strong.

"We already have increased security. It's generally our protocol. Of course, we have in the back of our minds what happened in Arizona. However, we will have extra deputies in the area, deputies in the parking lot and do everything to ensure the safety of him and the people attending," Ehsanipoor said.

Congressman Barrow's "Congress on the Corner" gatherings will be this Saturday, January 15 in Chatham, Effingham, Screven and Bulloch counties.
