Forest fire breaks out at Fort Stewart

FORT STEWART, GA (WTOC) – Officials with the Fort Stewart Forestry area fighting a forest fire on the northeast side of the installation, in Training Area C-15, which borders Bryan and Chatham counties, according to the Fort Stewart Public Affairs Office.

Smoke could Richmond Hill, Bryan County and parts of Chatham County. Fort Stewart has created a fire break to mitigate damage, according to the public affairs office.

Emergency responders and Georgia State Patrol are monitoring smoke hazards.
