SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Fourth and fifth graders at Heard Elementary got a chance to show off their spelling skills Wednesday afternoon.
Six finalists stepped to the mic at the school's annual spelling bee. When the number of students dwindled down to two, the words "procedure" and "satchel" produced a winner.
First place went to fourth grader Auset Lee from Ms. Shea's class, who spelled the words. Second place went to Carlos Ferrer from Ms. Mckelvey's class. Fifth grader Ajani Young finished third.
Auset will compete in the Chatham County Spelling Bee on Feb. 7 at Savannah Arts Academy.
WTOC's very own Sonny Dixon served as the word caller.
