Two people involved in collision on Savannah's west side

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Two people are recovering Sunday night after a head on collision that happened at the corner of 40th and Barnard streets in west Savannah.

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police say a Mazda Tribute flipped over after colliding with a Toyota Prius. Officers told WTOC that the tribute was traveling westbound on Barnard Street and the Prius, southbound on West 40th.

The two crashed into each other because neither saw the other driver.

Charles Stevens says, "There was no time to react. Usually i pride myself on reacting because that's what i do in Afghanistan, but there was no time to react. None at all."

Stevens said he ran over to help the driver of the Tribute, but she had already climbed out through the back door of the SUV.

No one was hurt in the accident.
