Crowd packs school cafeteria to observe MLK Day

CLAXTON, GA (WTOC) - Crowds packed the Claxton High School cafeteria early Monday morning for the 15th annual Catherine Bacon breakfast. The event is hosted by the local chapter of the NAACP as part of the day-long observance to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Organizers say they focus each year on one aspect of Dr. King's mission.

"One thing Doctor King was about was unity. So this year we're focused on trying to bring organizations within the community together to work together," said Willie Hall with the Evans County NAACP.

The breakfast is named for Catherine Bacon, one of the early organizers of the Evans County NAACP chapter.
