Air Guardsman Return

Seventy-five Air Guardsmen from the 165th Airlift Wing returned this morning from Operation Iraqi Freedom. WTOC was there for the happy homecoming with families who have been waiting five months for their Air Guardsmen to come back.

When the C-130s first flew over the airfield, they brought the Denney family to tears. Jenny and her family have been waiting five months for MSgt. James Denney to return, and with signs in hand, the Denney clan was ready to give their Air Guardsmen a heroes' welcome.

"Imagine five months of not seeing your dad," said son Ashley. "It's unthinkable. I just want him to hurry up and come back."

After receiving a water cannon salute, and what seemed like forever for the Denney family, the Air Guardsmen started deplaning. That's when the Denney clan made a dash toward their dad.

"Words can't tell you how good this feels," said Ashley.

After reuniting with his family, MSgt. Denney has another thing to look forward to: "a steak and a big glass of tea."
