BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) - The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is hosting their 27th session of the Citizens Police Academy for all residents within Beaufort County who are at least 18-years-old. Classes are from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesdays in Beaufort and on Thursdays in Okatie.
Some of the topics that will be covered include: Enforcement, criminal investigations, civil process, warrants, juvenile services, training, homeland security, drug enforcement, traffic enforcement, special teams, gangs and budget process.
Manuals and refreshments are included. Particpants will get the opportunity to experience hands-on demonstrations and exercises. Also included with the program is a citizen ride-a-long, a field trip to the Emergency Management Center, and a fieldtrip to the range facility where sheriff's deputies will showcase their specialized equipment and SWAT and K-9 teams.
At the end of the program, citizens will take part in a graduation ceremony where sheriff's deptuies thanks partipants for helping make Beaufort County a better place to live.
