SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - White Bluff Elementary School and the 260th Quartermaster Battalion from Hunter Army Airfield celebrated their partnership with a sign unveilling.
Officers with the 260th Quartermaster Battalion presented the sign at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
As part of the partnewship, soldiers will volunteer at the school twice a month and provide support to teachers, help students with reading and participate in outdoor activities.
"Twice a month we will come out and our soldiers will have question and answer sessions with the students and our soldiers will read to them and share life experiences with them as well as be a positive role model for students," said Lt. Col. Jimmy Brown with the 260th Quartermaster Battalion.
"We are thrilled with this partnership with the 260th Quartermaster Battalion from Hunter Army Airfield. The students look forward with anticipation to their time with the soldiers. The men and women of the 260th play and important role in helping out students understand that education and training are essential to achieving their goals." said White Bluff Principal Lisa Darly in a news release.
The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System says this partnership is an exemplary example of how community partnerships improve academic achievement and help prepare students for productive futures.
