I-95 exit ramp reopens after tractor trailer fire

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A northbound exit ramp on Interstate 95 in Bryan County has reopened after a tractor trailer fire.

A tractor trailer hauling tomatoes caught fire on I-95 north in Richmond Hill just after 1 a.m. Wednesday. The off-ramp of Exit 90 northbound, at Highway 144, had been closed for several hours.

Police say it started as a brake fire. The truck driver tried to put out the flames but the fire got out of control. The entire cab of the truck is destroyed and most of the trailer. The wreckage couldn't be moved until it cooled off.
