Activist Angela Davis to speak at GSU

STATESBORO,  GA (WTOC) – Controversial author, lecturer, educator and social justice advocate Angela Davis will speak at Georgia Southern University Jan. 27 at a celebration in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.

She will speak on what the civil rights movement means for 2011, according to a news release. The event takes place at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 27 at GSU's Performing Arts Center.

Davis teaches feminist studies and history of consciousness at the University of California Santa Cruz.
