BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) - The College of Charleston awarded full tuition scholarships to the five children of the Dickinson family. The Dickinson family are the latest recipients of a dream home from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Each child, ranging in ages from one to 16, will receive a full scholarship for four years towards a bachelor's degree.

Bill and India Dickinson have been living in their ranch style home with many structural problems. U. S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Bill Dickinson has been deployed to Afghanistan since last year and because of his deployment the family was faced with some economic hardship and they were unable to make repairs on their almost uninhabitable home. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition stepped in and built the family a new home in a week.

Show organizers said in a news release, "because of Bill's deployments and financial difficulty, the family home has become almost uninhabitable. They want to move but do not have the resources to do so."

"I am pleased that the College is able join forces with Extreme Makeover:  Home Edition to help this deserving South Carolina military family," said College of Charleston President Benson in a news release.  "We are honored to provide all five of the Dickinson children with the opportunity to pursue a college education."

The family was presented with the gift right after their new home was revealed on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
