Museum gets new energy efficient roof coating

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum is getting a new energy efficient roof coating in an effort to reduce energy usage and cost year round.

The Cool Roof donation is part of the museum's goal to become LEED certified.

Located at 460 Martin Luther King Blvd., the museum is the Wage Earners Bank that was built in 1914.

Boston-based coatings manufacturer EPOX-Z Corp. and Chatham County partnered together to put the new  roof coating on the building. EPOX-Z Corp. donated the materials to the museum and Chatham County will pay the labor costs to install the coating. The estimated cost is more than $7,000.
