One Conviction in O'Dell Murder Case

After hours of deliberation, a jury has decided the fate of one man charged with the murder of the son of a Chatham County commissioner. Tweny-three-year old Harris O'Dell III was shot while sitting in his car in front of his house in December. Two men were arrested and charged with his murder. Today, one of those men appeared before a judge brought in from Bryan County. Joseph Jackson was found guilty of aggravated assault, but not guilty of murder nor felony murder. Jackson was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

The second suspect, Jovanni McKinney, will appear before the same judge in September.
