Dozens of kids got the opportunity to be in the spotlight as part of the Back 2 School Jam 2003. The young people were able to showcase their talents while being cheered on by their peers and their parents.
Rapper Carnesha Johnson is about to take a huge step. She's starting her first day of high school on Monday. Expressing herself through music is helping her and these other young performers feel good about who they are.
"It makes me feel good when I'm on stage," she said.
These kids have spent the last few weeks learning new moves and perfecting their acts. They've been working hard, and hopefully it shows something that will hopefully be carried over into their studies.
"Now that I came here and got everything out, I'm ready to go back to school," continued Johnson.
