SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Memorial University Medical Center has upgraded their computer controlled surgical instrument system providing doctors with improved ease of use which means less pain and less time spent in the hospital for patients.
Dr. James Burke is using the technology in the treatment of complex women's surgeries but with a minimally invasive approach.
"Instead of using our own muscles and hands if you will, to direct the instruments the robotic system is doing that at our direction so there are hand leavers that we use to make robotic arms do the surgery that we want it to do," said Memorial M.D. James Burke.
The DaVinci will be available for viewing at the Southern Women's Show this weekend from Feb. 4 through Feb. 6. at the Memorial booth. They will also have free health screenings as well.
