Girl organizes food drive to help homeless

RICHMOND HILL, GA (WTOC) – A Richmond Hill Elementary School student is holding a food drive in February.

Shannon Holcomb, 8, organized the food drive, which is themed "Have a Heart, Help the Homeless."

From Feb. 5 to 27, people can drop off non-perishable food items at several collection sites in Savannah and Richmond Hill. The food will be donated to Union Mission.

Shannon will be accepting donations in person at these locations:

Feb. 5-6, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Kroger at 14010 Abercorn St. in Savannah

Feb. 12-13, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Walmart at 6000 Ogeechee Rd. in Richmond Hill

Feb. 19, 2 to 5 p.m.
The Ice Cream Stop at 13300 Ford Ave. in Richmond Hill

Feb. 20, 10 to 2 p.m.
Kroger at 9701 Ford Ave. in Richmond Hill  

Feb. 26, 2 to 5 p.m.
The Ice Cream Stop at 13300 Ford Avenue in Richmond Hill

Feb. 27, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Walgreens at 2270 Highway 17 in Richmond Hill

Food collection boxes will be set up outside The Ice Cream Stop in Richmond Hill and the Walgreens in Richmond Hill throughout the month of February. For more information, call 912.236.7423.
